How to embellish ordinary places in the garden?

In this case, unpretentious spring primroses will come to the rescue, which can be placed in any corner of the garden. Such plants include not only modest snowdrops and forget-me-nots, but also brighter muskar and primrose in appearance. Even the noble tulips of early varieties can feel great not on the most fertile soil.

Of these plants, you can scatter original mini-compositions throughout the garden, which in spring will delight with their beauty and freshness even before the appearance of mass greenery. You can place them under the canopy of trees, near perennial bushes, near the walls, along the paths, in rock gardens, at the foot of the hedge, near water bodies, in the most unexpected places. They will have time to bloom before the appearance of dense foliage, so the sun at this time they are quite enough in every corner. And bright and fragrant compositions from early spring will attract healthy insects to your garden, which will constantly fly here for nectar, and then fruit trees and shrubs will be pollinated together.

Primrose forest plants (anemone, liverwort and others) will feel very comfortable near trees without requiring any special care. It is enough to dig up several bushes with rhizomes in the forest and transplant them into your garden - beauty will be provided for many years. These wild children of nature willingly take care of the grower, forming lush thickets, flowering more abundantly than in the forest.

Let us dwell on primroses. In their unpretentiousness, they are not far from the wild relatives, despite the large number of ornamental varieties bred by the breeders. Bloom in early spring, and the name "primula" in translation from Latin means "first." Primula is a rhizomatous perennial, forming basal leafy rosettes. Inflorescences of the most diverse shades rise above the lush cushions of leaves. Flowering is very long with the appearance of all the new flowers.

Before the appearance of many varieties of species, early primrose with small yellow flowers was often found in flower beds. She is also called rams, primrose spring, keys. What does the key? And on this score there is a beautiful legend. One day, the apostle Peter, guarding the gates of heaven, inadvertently dropped a bundle of golden keys from the kingdom of heaven from his hands. Falling on the sinful earth, they crumbled, and where they touched the earth, there arose a golden flower with curlicues and curls. The angel sent in after the keys managed to pick them up, but their brilliance and beauty were still embodied in a small charming flower.

The main care for primroses is the periodic loosening of the soil, removing weeds and watering. For planting choose the place preferably without direct sunlight, in partial shade. In the sun, the duration of flowering is reduced, and in general the plant suffers from excessive heat and loss of moisture. Therefore, in dry weather will be very helpful abundant watering. As it blooms, it is advisable to cut the flower stalks so that the plant does not waste force on the formation of seeds, if they are not needed for reproduction.

Primrose division is done every 3-4 years in early spring or in July-August, and immediately after flowering. Bush is divided into parts of any size, but each of them must have at least one kidney. If primroses do not divide for a long time, then they freeze slightly in winter, because the rhizome with most of the roots is shallow and gradually becomes bare. For the same reason, it is necessary to add fertile soil to the roots every autumn. Older plants bloom less and freeze more strongly in winter.

Let's return to decorating garden inconveniences. If the soil in the chosen place is completely unsuitable, there is still a way out: it is enough just to dig a big hole, fill it with fertile soil and you can plant your composition from spring primroses. In places where moisture can accumulate, at the bottom of such a hole it is necessary to make a drainage from stones and coarse sand, and already above it should be filled with fertile soil. Now the stagnation of spring thawing waters will not be terrible even by bulbous. In such nests, the composition will grow without problems for many years, especially if you remember to feed it with fertilizers.
